In a bizarre turn of events, two fathers are now facing attempted second-degree murder charges after they both shot each other’s daughters in a road rage incident in Jacksonville Florida. What could’ve lead these 2 florida men to such a crazy act?
Sheriff Bill Leeper described the men’s behavior as “stupid” and “crazy” during a press conference on last Monday. The shooting occurred on October 8 after 6 p.m. on US Highway 1 in what Onlookers described as a “cat and mouse game” as two vehicles were driving down the highway erratically.
The two men were “brake checking each other” as William Hale, 36, and his family were driving to Georgia from Jacksonville. Frank Allison, 43, allegedly attempted to run him off the road.
“At some point during the encounter, the driver of the Dodge Ram (Hale) got up alongside the Nissan (Allison) and began shouting at the driver of the Nissan to pull over. The right front passenger of the Nissan put her hand out the window and flipped the other vehicle off with her middle finger.” explained Sheriff Bill Leeper during the press conference.
“The Nissan driver, Allison, rolled his window down to shout back at the other driver, and a plastic water bottle was thrown from the Dodge Ram into the Nissan. Allison then grabbed his Sig Saur 45-caliber automatic handgun and fired one shot at the other truck before driving away at a high rate of speed. The bullet went into the right rear passenger door of the Dodge Ram and hit Hale’s 5-year-old daughter in the leg. After seeing the Nissan speed away, Hale realized his daughter had been shot and sped after the other vehicle.” stated the Sheriff.
“It was an instant reaction,” Hale told authorities I (fired) “everything that was in the clip” at Allison’s car. Hale ended up shooting Allison’s 14-year-old daughter sitting in the backseat and leaving her with a collapsed lung
The two men have been arrested and are facing attempted second-degree murder charges.
It’s always sad to read news stories about young people becoming innocent victims of senseless road rage crimes. However this story is actually somewhat hilarious; only because no one was seriously hurt and because the two fathers involved are now going to have to face each other in court. We can only hope that they both end up with long jail sentences so they can have plenty of time to think about their idiotic actions.
Road rage is serious business and it always ends badly. If you find yourself getting angry while driving, pull over and take a break. It’s not worth risking your life or the lives of others.
